Nalanda Institute of Ayurveda is a San Francisco based school offering an integral approach to classical Ayurvedic education and herbal medicine cultivation. Our goal is to foster an environment that actively prepares students, teachers, and practitioners with the practical skills needed to apply Ayurveda through a case-based, hands-on clinical approach.

We combined this with our “Farm to Pharmacy” program which is a rare and unique educational opportunity that allows participants to spend time on an actual herbal farm learning how to identify, cultivate and process medicinal plants for their use in a clinical practice. Students will learn the tools needed to start their own herbal and food gardens with an introduction to permaculture farming. We also develop community building skills that allow everyone attending our programs the ability to share and promote our philosophy of a sustainable and affordable health care system within their community.

We offer a dynamic mix of faculty members who have trained both in India and the United States and are committed to educational excellence. We take pride in the flexibility of our programs which has been developed to meet the needs of students juggling a variety of personal and professional responsibilities. Our tuition assistance program is designed to "spread out" tuition payments over a period of several months enabling the student to create the financial commitment they need to actively participate in the program.
